Night Life in Vito

At the town's center is this unusual square church (once a fortress) with all the charm of a serene sanctuary with an inner sanctum accessible from a stairway positioned right in the church's center.

This lovely little sanctum was actually the original church, built where Saint Vitus was believed to have lived. Because of the miracles attributed to this tiny little church and the masses that made pilgrimages to it, the church was expanded to encompass the entire fortress.

At one point the sanctuary came to life with music reverberating off its marble walls! It wasn't a hymn though. It was the Village People's YMCA! RIght out the doorway of the church a band burst to life with a boisterous rendition of every Hawaii gay nightclub's anthem!

Of course we were right out there with all the Italians spelling out Y-M-C-A with our arms!

It wasn't just American iconic music that nite...There was also Latin music to spice up the piazza.
