A homemade Sicilian Breakfast

Sisters Rose-Mary prepared a Sicilian breakfast as their mother used to make them as children.

Similar to Hawaii's malasada (which arrived to Hawaii with the Portuguese plantation workers), this fried bread dish is coated in sugar. Eggs are scrambled with tomatoes and olive oil. Some lovely sesame-covered rolls. And they also whipped together some homemade tiramisu just for fun!

Hi there Jacque,
Fascinating tour of the country side and Nelson's Sicilian Home. I love the little things that happen on roads in Sicily. My experience with it was when my zio Govani and Zia Franka were taking me to my cousin Pina's home near Bornfonello. We ended up waiting till 50 or so goats from a nearby farm jumped up the embankment to their farm while crossing the road , many were not adept at it and consequently fell backwards on to the road with very loud thwaks. I enjoyed all your pictures and commentary.

I love Fried Bread. Spingi I call them. My mom doesn't make them anymore. I used to eat Brioche with gelato in the mornings for breakfast. I used yell out the name of the man in the gelato shop at street level (I was on the 6th floor) he would come out and I would lower the basket with my money and ask for Brioche. This went on for 3 months. :)
