The Baptistry

For some reason, the baptistry (named after John, The Baptist, patron saint of Florence) fascinated me more than the duomo.

Just to confuse you, it has three sets of doors. These bronze ones depict the gates of paradise and are replicas of the original, which are housed in a museum. They took nearly 30 years to complete.



Guess who this guy is? The Pope? Nah...It's the artist - Ghiberti! He did a little self-portrait I guess!
