A Slab of Heaven in Florence

The food in Tuscany is scrumptious. But this meal was even more divine that scrumptious.

Our friends Lisa and Onorio know chef Jean Carlo who presides over the kitchen at Villa Borromeo in the Chianti hills, and it was the most superior meal we've had in Italy in our two years.

The Borromeo family home is intrinsically tied to Florence's political and religious history. It was a meeting place of aristocrats, religious leaders and politicians.

But forget about the place, the food was the STAR...Florentine steak...pasta with zucchini flower sauce...and this smoked duck with balsamic cream on a bed of rucola is heaven incarnate.

The price was perhaps the biggest shocker...as it was moderately priced for such a high-end, high-quality and high-volume meal!
